Whenever I make changes with Movable Type I get SBOX errors.

Applies to: Grid System

By default, Movable Type creates new files and directories as world writable. On our system, this is needless and will cause SBOX errors.

Fixing the problem is easy; you just need to change Movable Type's configuration text file. The file is typically at /htdocs/www/cgi-bin/mt.cfg, or /htdocs/www/cgi-bin/mt-config.cgi for MT 3.2+. You can edit the file via a shell or by FTP. The original settings are:

# HTMLPerms 0777
# UploadPerms 0777

Remove the #, and change the settings to:

HTMLPerms 0755
UploadPerms 0755
(notice that there are no longer # symbols preceding the lines)

This change will halt the SBOX errors. Plus, your site will be more secure.
